Economic Inequality in America

Our non profit intends to improve race relations in America by addressing the black-white wealth gap and income gap. Economic inequality for blacks dates back to the slavery days when blacks had trillions of dollars in labor forcibly stolen from them and where disallowed to create or build wealth. Immediately after the federal government abolished slavery in 1865, state-enacted Black Codes were established to economically, politically and socially keep the ” Freedmen” or, free slaves, in bondage and to further ensure a cheap labor force in the Southern states. Following the Black Codes, Blacks endured another 100 years of state and local Jim Crow laws that further held Blacks back in all possible ways. To add to the injury and to further disenfranchise Blacks from gaining an economic footing, the Federal Housing Administration ( FHA) refused to insure mortgage loans to African Americans. This is vital since the number one source to building household wealth is owning your Primary Residence. While blacks in America have achieved great success socially and politically through the Civil Rights Movement, little progress has been made economically. UAAEDF has set out to become the dominant institution to foster economic development and to bring about economic justice for the Black community. Our grant programs will increase household wealth and help create a thriving, independent economy.

We provide grants in 3 key areas:
